The world famous Spanish island of Ibiza is perfect for great cycle trips. Not only the secluded beaches make this cycling holiday a relaxed adventure. Also the enchanting inland with many fruit trees, authentic villages with white plastered houses and churches contribute to this experience. The population is very friendly and there is a relaxed atmosphere. The labyrinth of deserted, well maintained roads is ideal for bike rides.
On your day off you may take a ferry and visit Formentera, the smallest inhabited island of the Balearics. Relax on a beautiful sandy beach or explore this mostly flat island by bicycle!
You’ll be staying in a comfortable hotel in the seaside resort of Santa Eulària, so the perfect hideout after you daily cycle rides!
Day 1: Arrival at Ibiza Airport. Transfer to your hotel in Eulària des Riu.
Day 2: Cycling: Es Canar route (cycling: ± 40 km)
After breakfast you may pick up your rental bike from the rental company. The first route of your cycling holiday takes you inland along quiet asphalted roads. You cycle through a rural environment with typical whitewashed houses with azure-blue window frames. The village of Es Canar is situated right on the sea. Every Wednesday a hippy market takes place here.
Day 3: Cycling: Sant Joan Labritja route (cycling: ± 45 km)
Today’s route is a drive through a hilly area towards the village of Sant Joan labritja. This village is located about halfway this day’s ride. People come here to enjoy the authentic ‘old Ibiza’. It is hard to understand that in the past this area was one of the most densely populated regions of Ibiza.
Day 4: Cycling: Sant Mateu route (cycling: ± 60 km)
Cycling west after about 12 km you pass the charming village of Santa Gertruidis de Fruitera. This village is surrounded by orchards and has many restaurants, craft shops and galleries. A stroll through this lively village is certainly recommended. This area is also known as the wine region of Ibiza. Past fruit and olive trees you continue to the picturesque village of Sant Mateu. This place is located in the middle of vineyards and almond plantations. For a delicious Spanish lunch we recommend restaurant Vlka at the white plastered church . After descending you will cycle back to Eulària des Riu through a picturesque valley,
Day 5: No cycling
A visit to Ibiza Town is definitely recommended! This can also be combined with a trip to the small island of Formentera which lies south of Ibiza and can be reached by ferry (at your own expense).
Day 6: Cycling: Cova de Can Marçà route (cycling: ± 45 km)
Today you’ll bike along rolling country roads and will take a short steep climb to the coastal town of San Miquel. An absolute must here is a visit to the Can Marçà cave. This cave is one of the oldest caves in Ibiza. About a 100,000 years ago, it was formed by moving earth layers. In Cova de Can Marçà you may see lovely stalactite formations and amazingly fossilized waterfalls.
Day 7: Cycling: White villages route (cycling: ± 60 km)
During the last cycling day of this holiday you will visit various authentic Ibiza-style villages. In these villages you still can find examples of the traditional architecture of the island. The land owners used to build defense towers at their houses to protect themselves from attacks by pirates! At the end of the afternoon, your rental bike with supplies have to be returned to the bicycle rental company.
Monday: Your holiday has come to an end, transfer to Ibiza Airport.
